​Profile | Akito Hiraishi

Akito Hiraishi is a semifinalist for the Lake Como International Conducting Competition.

 

In the 2021 season, Hiarishi has been appointed Associate Conductor of Japan's premier orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo. His appointment includes assisting Chief Conductor, Maestro Paavo Järvi and guest conductors including Herbert Blomstedt, Fabio Luisi, Gaetano Despinosa and many others. 

 

He has been invited to participate in various music festivals and conducting programs, including the International Bartok Festival (Hungary), Kirishima International Music Festival (Japan), and Wiener Musik Seminar (Austria).

 

In addition to his participation in festivals, Hiraishi has conducted the Janacek Philharmonic Ostrava, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Savalia Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Instabile di Arezzo, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, and the National Presidential Symphony of Ukraine.

 

His strong passion for opera led him to conduct numerous premieres and most recently to assist Maestro Janowsky in Lohengrin and Maestro Tatsuya Shimono in Fidelio.

 

While pursuing conducting training at Ueno Gakuen University, Hiraishi received his Musicology degree from Tokyo University of the Arts. After graduating, he attended the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under the tutelage of  Dr. Johannes Wildner. In addition, his mentors include Tomáš Netopil, Martin Sieghart and Junichi Hirokami.
